Grass fed beef is much healthier for you than corn fed beef for many reasons. First and foremost, it contains a much higher quality of omega-3 because the cows get the omega-3 from the grass when they eat it and it gets incorporated into their muscle tissue. Omega-3 is one of the best things you can eat for your heart. It also helps prevent diabetes and cancer and is excellent for keeping the immune system healthy.
Grass fed cows are always healthier than corn fed cows and therefore do not have to be injected with antibodies to keep them from dying. Plus, grass fed cows move around more which also makes their meat healthier for you. Grass fed cows also enjoy a much better life before they are slaughtered.
If you have never eaten grass fed beef, you are in for a real treat as the flavor is so much better than corn fed beef. I've served it to guests without telling them what it was and they immediately start complimenting the flavor and saying it's the best beef they've ever tasted. I can hardly stand to eat corn fed beef anymore as it doesn't even taste like beef to me.
Grass fed beef is usually much more expensive but you can occasionally catch a good sale and stock up. Whole Foods was selling grass fed organic ground beef for about $5 per pound where it is normally between $8 and $9 dollars per pound. I stocked up on it and got several one pound and half pound packages to throw in the freezer.
